TACHYCARDIA


• Tachycardia occurs when one single or multiple automaticity foci from any parts of the heart send(s) out erratic beats in quick succession (resulting in fast heart rate) that suppress normal impulses from the sinus node, or sinus node itself fires rapidly as a result of external stimuli (e.g. enhanced sympathetic drive).
• Examples of tachyarrhythmias caused by ectopy are listed below.
